Learner and P1 Drivers
You’re issued with four points on your Learner Licence or P1 Licence. If you commit a speeding offence, you’ll lose four points and lose your licence straight away – obey the road rules and you’ll be fine… not fined.
P2 Drivers
You’re issued with seven points on your P2 Licence. If you commit a traffic offence, you’ll probably lose points and cop a fine. If you commit a speeding offence during a double demerit point day, you’ll lose your licence on the spot. Avoid losing points and getting fined by driving safely.
Full Licence Drivers
Once you get your full licence, you’re issued with 13 points (if you didn’t lose any points on your Ps). Keep your points intact and stay safe by obeying all the road rules. Don’t speed, don’t drink and drive and don’t use your mobile while driving.
Penalties and Fines
Play it safe and obey the road rules to avoid losing any points, or injuring yourself and others. Some of the types of offences for which you could lose points are:
- Speeding
- Failing to wear a seatbelt
- Using a mobile phone while driving
- Failure to obey traffic lights
- Failure to give proper left or right change of direction signal
